Microsoft’s (MSFT) Windows Phone 8 is finally getting a little love from the small-time smartphone vendors, as Japanese website Blog of Mobile published images of what it claims is Huawei’s (002502) Ascend W1 Windows Phone 8 smartphone. Judging by the slightly blurry images, the device has a bright polycarbonate body like Nokia’s (NOK) Lumia smartphones and HTC’s (2498) upcoming Windows Phone 8X and 8S. Rumored specs for the Huawei Ascend
W1 include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4-inch WVGA display (800 x 480
resolution), a 5-megapixel rear camera, a VGA resolution front camera,
512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and a 2,000mAh battery. The specs
won’t blow anyone away in today’s world of 4.3-inch+ displays, 1GB of
RAM and quad-core processors, but it should at least give a competitive
entry-level Windows Phone 8 device for those who want one.
