Job Title: Software Engineer IV

Job Description: Cisco Security Technology Business Unit develops and markets security products and solutions for Cisco's Borderless Networks. These products protect customer investments by providing infrastructure, perimeter and application level security, including products to deploy, operate and monitor policy throughout the infrastructure.
The Cisco Security Manager (CSM) is one of the most critical products of STBU. This product has high visibility both within the BU and across several other of Cisco product/technology organizations and other functions like Advanced Services, Customer Advocacy, etc. CSM is a critical glue to help tie the components of the Cisco Self-Defending Network together. It enables customers to build, enforce and monitor security policies effectively through its easy to use graphical user interface. Members of the team will have ample opportunities to interact with our customers to learn how they deploy network security solutions. Knowledge from our customers day-to-day operations will be utilized to transform our product to meet customer's operational challenges such as scalability, usability, virtualization, and high availability.
The CSM team is looking for a highly energetic and motivated Software Development Engineers who can support the Development Engineering organization for Database Design, Graphical User Interface design.
As part of a world-class product and solutions organization, the selected candidate will work with the CSM Development Engineering and QA teams, and more critically, with other engineering organizations that CSM supports, and cross-functional teams such as Product Marketing, Usability Engineering, customer-facing operations like Systems Engineers, etc.
The successful candidate will have a unique blend of technical knowledge and exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, coupled with a proven track record of successful contributions to architecting, design and development of large software product teams. This role includes driving new solution definition working with the ASA and IPS platform teams and Product Management, driving the manageability of next-generation of Firewall, IPS and VPN features, driving security solutions for newer deployment scenarios like data-centers, mobile users, etc., and playing a key role in designing and implementing those. This position is for an expert developer/designer in GUI area ( thick client and thin client )
Primary Skills:
The candidate should possess one or more of the following primary skills:
* In-depth knowledge of Java technologies
* In-depth knowledge of GUI technology ( JIDE, Swing and other relevant new technology )
* Should be experience in GUI development from scratch
* Knowledge of DB and RDBMS programming
* Strong software design methodology expertise
* Experience in network management applications
* Experience in complex product development will be a plus
* Domain expertise in network security will be a significant advantage
Other Skills:
Ability to widely apply networking principles, theories and field concepts to product development and possession of working knowledge of related disciplines. Hands-on experience with one or more of the LAN/WAN and network layer protocols. Understand related products' architecture. Understands competitive products. Ability to apply new technology independently. Ability to design multiple subsystem architecture. Ability to plan small projects. Ability to solve complex problems involving multiple sub systems.
